Back to School Cleaning Routine Tips
It’s hard to believe that the summer is almost over, but since fall is quickly approaching, back to school time is as well.
We have put together a small list of tips we think will help you perfect your routine in preparing for the back to school season. This task may sound overwhelming, but with tips from our Home Clean Heroes team, back to school cleaning should be a breeze.
Start By Creating a Plan
The easiest way to start is to make a list of your goals. Which particular areas of the home are you going to focus on? Is this back to school cleaning going to be a deep clean? Or, is it going to be more of a quick sweep over the whole home?
We typically recommend a relatively deep clean throughout the majority of the home during the back to school season. This gives you a chance to eliminate dirt, sand, debris, and anything else you may have missed during the summer that the kids may have tracked inside. This also gives you a chance to sterilize your home, right in time for the kids to get back to school.
Obviously, the size of your home and your particular cleaning plan come into play when determining how long this process will take. That’s why it is so important to create a detailed checklist of each area of the home that is important to you, to keep you on a schedule that will ensure you finish everything that you wanted to get done.
Collect All Necessary Supplies
Now that your plan is in place and you know what you want to do, you are going to want to compile a list of everything you are going to need. Your cleaning plan should help in collecting a list of all the materials needed. Having a running list of everything you need makes it a lot easier to go shopping, and it’s definitely more time efficient.
Keep in mind, it’s important that you stock up on enough cleaning supplies to be sure that you have extra just in case.
Mark Your Calendar
We recommend that you choose a specific date for a back-to-school cleaning routine, or, break your tasks up into smaller days that can be tackled over a week, for example.
A great time to start cleaning could even be the first week of school, preferably on a day where the kids will be out of the house, so you won’t have any distractions or disturbances! It is best to schedule this on a day that you have no prior obligations or plans.
Putting your fall cleaning into your calendar should help motivate you to be efficient and timely, so you can cross this task off your mental to-do list.
Try Adding Some Background Noise
Try connecting your phone to a speaker to play your favorite album or podcast throughout the house. If you don’t like using a speaker or you don’t have one, simply carry your phone as you go and play your audio through your cell phone speakers.
Although you won’t be able to listen while vacuuming, it is nice to have something on in the background to keep your mind busy, for at least part of the time. Check out our playlist on Spotify called Freshen Up with Home Clean Heroes for some fun songs to get you excited about cleaning!
Relax and Enjoy Your Beautiful, Clean Home
When all is said and done and you’ve finished your back to school cleaning routine, you deserve to rest and relax. This also means no more cooking or cleaning for the rest of the day. You need a much deserved break, let someone else cook for you!
